Digimon: Darkness Returns

Chapter six 

Yuki was just headed out of school when Akai and her brother Jonni caught up with her. 
"Hey Yuki!" "Hi sis!"

"Hello," she said, not looking back or slowing. She wasn’t in the mood to deal with them. 
She was going to spend the night at Sakura’s place. She had left Aguamon there the day before 
to play with Sakura, Kaji, and Hana’s Digimon. Yuki was afraid she would find Aguamon had 
eaten everything in sight. That Digimon had some appetite. It could even out-eat her. Yuki 
didn’t eat much during meals, but she snacked a lot. 

"Yuki, wait up! Why are you in such a hurry?" her brother panted next to her.

"’Cause I think my Digimon might have eaten one of best friends, that’s all. No biggie," 
she said calmly.

"You mean Sakura? We’ve got to save her! I mean, I like your Digimon, Yuki, but if she’s 
eating people" 

She interrupted Akai. "I was kidding. It’s only her food supply I’m worried about. That 
Digimon eats a lot, believe me. Use your brain once in a while."

"Oh, sorry," Akai blushed sheepily. 

"So, do you just love spending time with me, or do you want something, ‘cause home’s that 
way," she pointed behind her, "and I’m going to Sakura’s."

"We were wondering if we could come with you," suggested Jonni meekly.

"Okay, but you’ll both have to go home after dinner. I know the Kanos won’t mind," 
she replied simply.

"Great," said Akai. "Want to know something funny?"

"What?" asked Yuki, a bit bored.

"I think DemiVeemon is in love with Pandiamon."

Yuki giggled, "You’re right, that is funny."

"He got all red while talking to her last night," added Jonni. "It was great."

"Yay," Yuki said bored again. School had really drained the life out of her. 
"We can watch it some more when we get there." 



Sakura was drawing in her sketch pad. Pandiamon was sitting as still as she could while 
Sakura worked. "You’re a great model, Pandiamon, I can get all the shadows and everything. 
It’s very 3D that way."

"Thank you," Pandiamon tried to say out of the corner of her mouth, as to move as little as 
possible.

"And" Sakura scribbled madly then held the sketch up, "Voila! What do you think?"

"It’s great!" enthused her Digimon. "I love it! It’s beautiful, if I do say so myself."

"Thanks," Sakura stood up. "Let’s see what Kaji and Hana think."

She went to the playroom. Toys were scattered everywhere. Zerimon and Sakimon were swaddled 
like babies. "Gee, I’m glad you don’t do that," murmured Pandiamon.

"No kidding," Sakura replied. The little Digimon seemed to like it, though. 

Just then the doorbell rang. Sakura jumped out of the way as the kids rushed to the door. 

She opened it. There were Akai, Jonni, and Yuki. "Hi, didn’t know you two were coming," 
she said as they walked in, "Well, the more the merrier, just as long as the merrier don’t 
annoy my folks!"

Aguamon had been curled asleep on a chair. She opened an eye. "Hello Yuki, good day?"

"Pretty good," she replied, "Let’s go to Sakura’s room, ‘kay?"

"I’m fine with it," Sakura started up the stairs.

"I’ll go too!" said Hana, hurried after her, Sakimon in her arms.

Aguamon flew up, Yuki right behind her, leaving the boys downstairs.

They sat down on Sakura’s bed. They talked and had a good time. The Digimon ate, and the 
girls swapped horror stories from school.

After a little while, Hana’s digivice began to beep. Sakimon began to glow. Shouts came from 
downstairs. Yuki stuck her head out the door. More glowing and beeping came from there. 
The boys rushed up. Zerimon was glowing, too. All at once, they digivolved.

Zerimon became Gummimon, and Sakimon became Sereremon. Gummimon was a little green guy with 
a tiny horn, and Sereremon had grown two leaves on the top of her and four little feet. She 
still had a pink pacifier for a mouth.

"Wow," Kaji and Hana breathed together.




The next day Akai was resting in his backyard. DemiVeemon had digivolved again, so it 
was Veemon beside him. The sun was bright and it was warm out.

The sky darkened abruptly, but Akai didn’t take any notice until he heard wing beats. 
He jumped up, startled, to see a huge Digimon land in his yard. It was a giant serpent 
called Airdramon. A person was riding it jumped off. He was wearing a gray suit. In his 
hand was a strange device. It was flat, and square, and was making beeping sounds. "Are 
you the one with a Digimon?" he addressed Akai.

"Yes, I am," Veemon stepped in front of him, ready for battle, "Who are you?"

"I’m Agent Kazuo Igarashi. I work for Ragnarok. I’ve come to recruit you and your 
Digimon for our junior agent program." He lowered his sunglasses expectantly.

"Do I have any other choice?" Akai asked.

"Your other choice is for me to destroy your Digimon," Agent Igarashi grinned evilly.

"Well then," Akai grabbed his digivice, "I choose my third option, where I beat you!"

 

 





 

 



Veemon leaped at Airdramon and tried a Vee Head Butt. The attack only made the large 
Digimon blink. "Spinning Needle!"

Large, long needles flew from its mouth, hitting Veemon. The smaller blue Digimon flew 
backwards.

"God Tornado!" Airdramon reared up and beat its wings rapidly, catching Veemon in a 
powerful tornado.

"Veemon!" cried Akai, arm protecting his face from the fierce winds.

"Spinning Needle!" Airdramon hissed again, needles piercing through the twister and 
hitting Veemon. Veemon yelled in pain.

"Veemon!" Akai shouted. "No!" An orange light erupted from Akai’s chest. A sign that looked 
like the sun appeared.

Lights shot from inside the tornado. "Veemon digivolve to...ExVeemon!"

A large blue Digimon with an X on his chest and wings burst from the twister. 
"Vee Laser!" he shouted. The X on his chest lit up and a laser shot out.

The attack hit Airdramon head-on, and blasted it back. ExVeemon flew closer and kicked 
Airdramon under its chin, causing it to crash to the ground. Airdramon burst into a 
million pieces. Akai instinctively held up his digivice, like he had seen Sydney do. 
The data was absorbed into it. When Akai looked at the screen a picture of Airdramon 
was there. He found a Map command and selected it. He studied it until he found a 
dot entitled Primary Village. He chose it and the data flew out of the digivice 
and into the sky. 

When he looked up, Agent Igarashi had disappeared. ExVeemon de-digivolved into Veemon. 
"That was cool!" he exclaimed.
